Melissa

A bit about Melissa:

Melissa Hortman is the Study Skills Programs Coordinator in the Center for Student Learning at the College of Charleston. Melissa attended undergrad and graduate school in Atlanta, GA where she received degrees in Architecture and Professional Counseling. In her position at the College, she creates unique plans for individual students experiencing academic challenges, while also coordinating and marketing all study skills workshops in the residence halls and with the Addlestone Library. With her experience in event management, educational technology, community outreach, and design, she has a wealth of knowledge about many topics.
Interests & Profile
Transition programs, Learning challenges with technology, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Campus climate perceptions, Academic success programs, Cognitive and non-cognitive student outcomes, Problem solving skills.

Jolanda (aka Joey)

A bit about Joey:
Jolanda-Pieta (Joey) van Arnhem, Instructional Design Librarian, College of Charleston Libraries, and Instructor for the College of Charleston, obtained her M.F.A. from Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2009 and her M.L.I.S. from the University of South Carolina in 2013. Joey contributes her expertise to the newly formed Digital Scholarship & Services Department at the Library, providing instruction for faculty, staff, and students regarding information technology utilization and digital scholarship tools for research and classroom use. She authors a regular column, Mobile Apps in Libraries, on emerging mobile technologies in libraries for The Charleston Advisor

Jannette Finch is the Librarian at the College of Charleston North Campus & Lowcountry Graduate Center. She obtained a M.L.I.S at the University of South Carolina and a BA in English with a minor in Political Science at the College of Charleston.
Information design, online learning and teaching, effective teaching through experiential learning activities, constructivist techniques, visualizing data, library role in the scholarly community, assessment and planning.
