The One Button Studio is open during Library Hours of Operation. 

Click to Reserve the Studio

The OBS is an Open Access Room. Reservations have priority. If you are using the OBS without a valid reservation, you must leave when asked by the holder of a valid reservation. The OBS is open and available on a first come, first served basis.

Decorative ButtonWhat is it?

The One Button Studio (OBS) is a simple, easy to use video recording lab located at Addlestone Library, Room 136, adjacent to the Circulation Desk. The Studio is  equipped with lights, audio, and cameras and can be used by College of Charleston students, faculty, and staff to practice and record presentations without video production experience.

Some types of video projects work well in the One Button Studio.  When building assignments or planning a recording session consider some of these ideas:

Decorative ButtonPracticing your public speaking skills, preparing for conference presentations, thesis and dissertation defenses, poster sessions,
       or research exhibitions.
Decorative ButtonPracticing interviewing skills for internship or job interviews.
Decorative ButtonCreating videos for course introductions, online instruction, training, recruitment, or posting to social media.

How Does the One Button Studio Work?

Welcome to the One Button Studio

  1. Plug your USB flash drive into the USB dock to activate the Studio camera and lights. 
  2. Press the large silver button to start and stop recording.
  3. Remove your USB flash drive from the USB dock to deactivate the Studio Camera and lights.

Quick Start Guide

Decorative BulletReserve Studio Online

  • Reservations can be made online or via mobile phone by visiting www.cofc.edu/library and clicking One Button Studio Reservations.
  • Only CofC students, faculty, and staff with a valid @g.cofc.edu or @cofc.edu email address are allowed to make reservations.
  • Once a reservation is made, you will receive an email to confirm the reservation. You must confirm the reservation within 30 minutes of receiving the email to complete the reservation process. You may use your confirmation email to verify your reservation in the event that two groups claim to have a reservation for the same time.
  • Reservations may be made up to 60 days in advance.
  • Each student, faculty, or staff member can make two, one hour reservations per day, up to 3 times per week.

  • Visit the first floor of Addlestone Library Circulation Desk to verify your reservation, check out presentation remote, USB flash drive and obtain access to the One Button Studio (requires valid College of Charleston ID).
  • You may also use your own flash drive.
  • USB drives are also available for purchase from the vending machine on the Library's first floor.

Record Your Video Make sure you have enough space on your flash drive—a 1GB flash drive will record approximately 25 minutes Insert your USB drive into the dock to activate the Studio camera and lighting Press the large silver button to start/stop recording When finished recording, remove your USB drive to deactivate the studio camera and lights Use the workstation PC to move your recordings to your personal USB drive or cloud storage (optional)
