This guide gives an overview of five major tools to use to research and locate information through the Addlestone library. They are briefly defined below:
Discovery Service: provides a single, unified search box for searching the holdings of the College of Charleston Libraries, including scholarly journal articles, books, e-books, internet documents, research reports, and much more.
Database Searching: A database provides access to the bibliographic information of material or direct online access to the material itself. Our databases provide access to thousands of periodical articles on particular research areas.
WorldCat: A union catalog that itemizes the collections of 72,000 libraries in 170 countries and territories. Worldcat materials are accessed and delivered via ILL.
ILL (Interlibrary Loan): A service that allows students and faculty to obtain materials from other libraries worldwide.
PASCAL (Partnership Among South Carolina Libraries): A division of ILL that gives students and faculty access to books fromn most South Carolina libraries within a few days.
