Mission and Members

The Library Instruction Advisory Committee (LIAC) serves in an advisory capacity to the Dean of Libraries on matters of instructional activities.  Committee members actively research, assess, and engage in issues of library instruction and recommend changes to improve instruction programs at the Library.
Committee Responsibilities: 

  • recommend strategies for improving information literacy instruction based on published research, best-practices, and ALA and ACRL recommendations 
  • review and recommend changes to existing or new library policies for improved instruction, resources, services, and the facility to ensure the library is connected with and supports the University’s academic programs and curriculum
  • advise regarding library instruction services and assessment
  • review benchmarking reports with peer institutions for resources, staffing, and services

In an effort to include all parts of the College of Charleston Libraries, committee membership reflects the various locations, collections, and departments with a public services face. For the '17-'18 year, the committee members are as follows:
