Zoom is a cloud platform for video and audio conferencing, collaboration, chat, and webinars across mobile devices, desktops, telephones, and room systems.
Windows, Mac, and Linux based devices can download the Zoom desktop client from Zoom's download center. You can find the app in the Apple Appstore for iOS devices, or the Google Play store for Android devices.
Zoom offers limited functionality in a web browser, without having to install the desktop client. If it is your first time connecting to a Zoom meeting in a browser, you may be prompted to install a plugin. While all major browsers are supported, Zoom recommends using Google Chrome to access the full range of its web-based features.
All faculty, staff, and students have a license tied to their respective school email address. Please note that if you created a free or paid zoom account with your school email address prior to the College purchasing its bulk license, you will be prompted to consolidate your accounts the first time you sign in. You can find more information on Zoom's help page for 'Account Consolidation with Managed Domains'.
For non-CofC members, creating a Zoom account is free at https://zoom.us/signup. While it is possible to create a meeting that guest users can join, best practice for securing a meeting does require a user to have a zoom account.
