Kopernio is a free browser plugin that enhances Google Scholar, Web of Science, and PubMed searches to bring one-click access to full-text articles. It integrates with College of Charleston subscriptions as well as open access and pre-print manuscript platforms to streamline your access to PDFs.

  • locate open-access content
  • provide the best available version of an article (prioritizing the published version of record over accepted manuscripts and submitted manuscripts)

Getting Started in Two Minutes

Set up Kopernio

Setting up Kopernio is easy!

  1. Download the plugin to Firefox or Chrome
  2. Create your account
  3. Set your institutional affiliation to College of Charleston
  4. Authenticate with your MyCharleston credentials when requested

Use Kopernio

When you've installed Kopernio, an icon Kopernio logo will appear in your browser toolbar.

Click on the icon and log into Kopernio. Then search Google Scholar, Web of Science, Zoological Record, or PubMed as usual. When you access an individual record, if Kopernio can provide access to the article, you will see the green "View PDF" button at the bottom left of the screen (e.g. Web of Science below).
