Hardware and Software

Software and Hardware

  • The Dell laptop is running Windows 10 and has Office 2016 installed.
  • Login to the laptop using the username "LIBR27Z8N32\library" and the password "addlestone"
  • College of Charleston staff can login using their Cougars username and password.
  • Lecturn includes: 
    • Laptop with Internet.
    • Extron Control Panel.
    • Presentation remote with laser pointer for PowerPoint and Prezi.
    • Microphone (stationary).
    • Sound System.
    • Overhead Projector.
    • Laptop Hook-up.

Audio Conferencing Capabilities
Room 227 is equipped with a phone line.  If you need to setup a phone conference call, you will need to check out the equipment from the Administration office in room 250 of the Addlestone Library (843-953-5530).  The phone line is located in the front of the room (to the left of the projection screen).  The phone line is marked with a green "dot." 

Lowering/Raising the Blinds
Room 227 is equipped with blinds.  You can lower or raise the blinds by using the controls located at the back of the room (to the right of the projector), near the entry doors.

Using your personal laptop 

  • VGA and audio cables are provided. 
  • Mac Users, we do not have video adaptors on hand, please make sure to bring your video adapter.
  • There is an ethernet connection for laptops in the room.
  • Students, Faculty, and Staff can connect to the eduroam wireless network.  You can visit the Access and Instruction desk if you are having trouble connecting to the eduroam network.
  • Guests can connect to the guest wireless network (cofc-guest) within the Library. Open a web browser and go to to configure your laptop for the guest network.

Playing video or audio files on the Teacher's station

  • VLC Media Player is installed on the Teacher's Station and will play most audio/video file types.  If you are planning on playing a video file on the Teacher's Station the best file formats are MP4 (Mac Users) or AVI (PC Users).  

Presenting image slideshows 

  • If you plan on showing images as a slideshow, click a folder that contains your pictures, and then click Slide show.
  • Your pictures will begin to play full-screen as a slide show—starting with the first picture in the selected folder.
  • To stop playing the slide show, press ESC or right-click the slide show as it plays, and then click Exit.
  • Using the slide show controls: 
    Slide shows run automatically, so you don't need to use the mouse or keyboard to move from one picture to the next. However, if you want to control the slide show, you can do so at any time by right-clicking the slide show to display a menu with control options, and then clicking one or more of the slide show options. For example, you might want to make the pictures appear in a random order, go backward or forward, pause the slide show, change the speed of the slide show, or exit to stop playing the slide show.

Keynote Users (Mac)

  • If you are using Keynote on a Mac, please export your slides to PowerPoint (.ppt).  Keynote is not installed on the lectern laptop.

Room 227 accommodates meetings and gatherings of about 30 people. The room is located on the second floor of the Addlestone Library. The room may only be booked by the Library Administration. The room is equipped with a PC, VCR, DVD player, microphone, projector, and phone line, making it suitable for audio conferencing. If assistance is needed with any of the equipment in the room, make sure to submit your request 24 hours prior to the requesting time/date to the Library Support Ticket System.

Requesting Assistance

Please submit all internal Library requests for webinar/meeting setups, library technology room setups, and presentation/presenter assistance to the Library Support Ticket System at least 24 hours prior to the requesting time/date.   Please note that the requests can only be submitted from campus at this time. Submitting your requests using the Library Support Ticket System will allow us to coordinate our schedules and provide the best service possible between 8 am and 4 pm, Mon - Fri.  When submitting a ticket please make sure to include all relevant information.

After Hours Support

  • The library staff member responsible for scheduling the room is welcome but not required to submit a support ticket to have the room set up and equipment checked before an after hours event.
  • The technology team is available between 8am and 4pm.  
  • The technology team will check the equipment in cases where a request is made.  This doesn’t guarantee that the equipment will work at the time of the afterhours event.
  • If there is a technology issue after hours, please call the IT Service Desk 953-3375 for after hours support.  The IT Service Desk should have trained staff on hand until 10pm and on weekends to assist with technology issues as they relate to classrooms and presentations.
