The South Carolina Room and the Charleston Archive are located on the 2nd floor of the Main Library. They house local history and materials and resources. The mission is to collect, preserve and make accessible those materials focusing on the history and genealogy of South Carolina, with special emphasis on Charleston.

Charleston Archive at CCPL
The Charleston Archive, located on the second floor of the Main Library, is an archive of historic manuscripts, books and visual materials representing Charleston and the surrounding Lowcountry.
South Carolina Room at CCPL
The South Carolina Room, located on the 2nd floor of the Main Library houses local history and genealogy materials and resources. The mission is to collect, preserve and make accessible those materials focusing on the history and genealogy of South Carolina, with special emphasis on Charleston and the Lowcountry.

The South Carolina Historical Society
Established in 1855, the South Carolina Historical Society is dedicated to expanding, preserving, and making accessible their collection, and encouraging interest and pride in the rich history of the state.
Historic Charleston Foundation
Established in 1947, Historic Charleston Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve and protect the historical, architectural and material culture that make up Charleston's rich and irreplaceable heritage.
