This student user working group, formerly known as the Student Library Advisory Board (SLAB), engages in conversation about CofC Libraries, promotes library resources to fellow students, and helps shape student library experiences.
Are you a regular user of library spaces, resources, and services? Do you feel invested in the mission of the library? Are you involved on campus and feel like you could represent and speak on behalf of the CofC student body?
The library staff is actively looking for engaged students to serve as advisors to improve library services and experiences for students.
LSA will meet biweekly for open discussion and other observational exercises TBD. Approved members are expected to serve at least one academic year but are invited to participate in LSA as long as they are enrolled at CofC.
Library Student Ambassadors (LSA) is a user working group reformed to support ongoing, user research and participatory library service design. Serving as "a bridge between library users and library staff" (Marquez & Downey, 2016), LSA works to improve student user experience at CofC Libraries through open discussion. While LSA is strictly advisory in nature, it exists in support of the library's mission to encourage the use of college and research libraries, in order for students "to realize their intellectual and personal potential" (College of Charleston Libraries, 2006), and recognize student interest in improving the spaces, resources, and services necessary for academic inquiry.
