iMovie - Mac Computers
Addlestone Library Production Lounge (Room 120)
Part of the College of Charleston Libraries Scholars Studio, the Production Lounge is a workspace for media creation, digital scholarship, and DIY activities that support curricular activities. It is located in Addlestone Library, Room 120. The Production Lounge has 3 Mac workstations with a variety of specialized software and equipment that may be reserved by College of Charleston students, faculty, and staff.
In addition to the Production Lounge, the following items are also available for checkout to assist with multimedia projects:
For video project post production iMovie and Adobe Premiere are installed on all Mac Production Lounge computers. If you use iMovie or other video editing software in the Production Lounge please be aware of the following:
- Production Lounge computers are available on a first come first served basis. However, users without reservations must leave when requested by an individual with proof of a valid reservation, i.e., a confirmation email of the reservation. Reservations have priority. If you are using a Production Lounge computer without a valid reservation, you must leave when asked by a patron with a valid reservation. Please review the Addlestone Library Spaces policy for additional information.
- The computers are public computers and your files may be deleted by another user. Please backup and store all of your original files. Google Drive, available as part of your College of Charleston Gmail is a good option.
- iMovie projects require planning to be worked on from multiple computers. Consider using an external drive for your project library if you need to be able to move your project around.
- Please decide on the software and machine you wish to use BEFORE starting your project so that you can plan accordingly and request assistance if needed.
- Production Lounge computers are in an open area.
- If you need to hear audio, please bring your own headphones.

PC Computers
Student Computing Lab
The Student Computing Lab is currently running Windows 10 and Windows Movie Maker is no longer supported. Shotcut, a free open source video editing program can be downloaded to your personal computer and is available for Windows and Mac operating systems. If you Student Computing Lab PCs for creative projects, please be aware of the following:
- The computers are public computers and your files may be deleted by another user. Please backup and store all of your original files. Google Drive, available as part of your College of Charleston Gmail is a good option.
- Movie projects can not be worked on from multiple computers without planning. It is best practice to decide on the software and machine you wish to use BEFORE starting your project.
- If you do not save your files to the "Thaw" space they will be deleted when you are logged out of the machine.
- Sound is not available on the Student Computing lab computers. If you will need to hear audio, please bring your own headphones.
- Student Computing Lab computers are in an open area.
